  • Matthew 25: 31-46 is about, "The Sheep and the Goats."

  •  A parable is a vision or illustration.

  • ​We have a choice to be like the sheep or the goat.

When the Son of Man comes in his glory and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne.

"Lord, when did we see these things and do them for you?" asked the righteous.

The King replied, "Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me."

​Then he will say to those on his left, "Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.


For I was hungry ... you gave me nothing to eat,
​I was thirsty...you gave me nothing to drink,
I was a stranger... you did not invite me in,
I needed clothes... you did not clothe me,
I was sick and in prison...  you did not look after me.

They also answered, "Lord, when did we see these things and did not help you?"

He will reply, "Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me."

Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.

Lesson take-away:

  1. Belief in Christ must be accompanied by actions of faith to enter eternal life.

  2. Matthew 25 broadly speaks to the End of Age, the second coming of Christ, and the final judgment.

  3. Reject Christ you will get eternal punishment

  4. In this chapter, it is shown that the wise virgins are rewarded, that utilizing one's talents leads to gain, and that righteous behavior, akin to that of a sheep, will result in eternal life upon the arrival of the Son of Man.
